Renaissance Lime Wash

Regular paint would be no match for the stunning stonework on the Venetian church of San Giovanni Grisostomo, built by architect Mauro Codussi in 1497.  Lime wash, however, here in a rich red similar to our Roussillon color, allows the stuccoed walls to hold their own against robust architectural moldings.

The exterior was most recently restored in 2003, thus demonstrating the staying power of a mineral topcoat.
